An original printed dining card from the Vintage Menu, 1883. Carried at sea aboard one of the great transatlantic liners of the period.

Transatlantic ocean liners of 1880–1928 issued a fresh printed menu for every meal of every voyage. Most cards were tossed at the end of service; the few that survived to the Buttolph Collection now form one of the world’s most concentrated archives of pre-WWII culinary design.
