Belle Époque Paris — Hôtel Ritz, Élysée Palace, restaurant Marguery, 1897–1907

Belle Époque Paris was the capital of European luxury dining. The Hôtel Ritz (opened 1898), the Élysée Palace Hotel, the restaurant Marguery, Burgundy Hotel and Café Voisin defined what international fine dining meant at the turn of the twentieth century. Their printed menus — often illustrated, frequently in French, always elegantly typeset — are among the finest commercial design specimens of the period.
