What exactly am I buying?

A digital download. After payment you receive a single ZIP file containing six JPEG image files (three sizes × two versions: pure and museum) plus a short PDF on the menu’s history. Print the file yourself, or send the file to a local print/framing shop. We do not ship physical prints.

How do I download my files?

Immediately after checkout, the download link appears on your order confirmation page and is also emailed to the address you used at checkout. The link works for up to 5 downloads within 30 days of purchase. If you lose your link, log into your account or email us.

What file format and resolution are the prints?

JPEG images at 300 DPI, sized for 8×10, 11×14, and 16×20 inches. Any modern home printer or framing-shop printer can use them directly.

What is the difference between the “pure” and “museum” versions?

The pure version is the menu image only — exactly as it was printed in 1900-something, with nothing added. The museum version adds a small discreet caption at the bottom listing the ship or venue, the year, and the source archive — the same way a museum captions an object on display. Use whichever fits your decor.

Can I use these in my bar / restaurant / hotel?

Yes. The original artworks are in the public domain. You may print and display them in your venue, including for commercial display purposes. You may not resell the digital files themselves, redistribute them, or claim authorship of the originals.

Do you offer refunds?

Because these are instant digital downloads, we do not offer refunds for change of mind. If a file is corrupted, the download link does not work, or the wrong menu was delivered, we will replace it or refund in full. See our Refund Policy.

Will you add more menus?

Yes, gradually. The Buttolph Collection contains roughly 25,000 menus and we have only released our first 52. New collections will be added as we curate them. Follow our Journal for new-release notes.
